Ribnica Monastery
Monastery of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul
The monastery was destroyed and rebuilt several times, which was the fate of a large number of Orthodox churches during the history of the Serbian Church. During the Kočina Krajina period, the church was burned down again, only to be rebuilt several times during the 19th century. Due to the difficult times under Turkish slavery, and the dispersing or killing of the Ribnik monks, the monastery was turned into a parish church in 1837, and it was like that until 2011. Then it was again without an abbot and brotherhood for a few more years, and finally, with the arrival of monk Arsenij Jovanović as head, on December 17, 2017, it became an active men's monastery again.
In the same way, we invite all those God-longing souls who are interested in the monastic life to join us, to make a joint effort, in love and harmony, on the plan of salvation, both personally and of our sinful and suffering Serbian race. Every nation needs a strong and healthy monasticism, in order for that nation to prosper with God's grace and to have someone to pray for it. We are here to help our people in this way, and we wish and pray that all peoples in this world will realize the value and beauty of the original Christian monastic life.
By God's Grace
Yours in Christ,
Monk Arsenius with the Brotherhood
